In version 5 there is a new setting wireless-protocol which is fantastic! No longer do you have to change the station to reflect the access point every change you make. The idea is that you set the station to support more than 1 protocol and make the changes only on the access point.
For example, the following tells the station to first try nv2, then nstream, then plain old 802.11

/int wireless set 0 wireless-protocol=nv2-nstreme-802.11
You could also set it to A/N..
/int wireless set 0 band=5ghz-a/n
Now you can chop and change the access point settings without the need to risk losing connectivity.
